Vogue Hommes International - Fall/Winter 2003-2004
Richard Buckley decided in 2003 to include Brahim Asloum on the cover of Vogue Hommes International. Shot by Ali Mahdavi the boxer wears a customised Swarovski crystal gum-shield in this issue called "Ch'adore" : a reference to "J'adore" by Dior and the veil, chador. Indeed, Buckley came with the concept after the September 11th attacks with the intent of questionning the representation of muslims after the rise of islamophobia that followed the tragedy. Unfortunately, it still remains a live issue in 2017.
